Introduction

Welcome visitor, You have now entered my part of Kit-FanaTic.
First let me introduce myself. My name is Remco, I live in the Netherlands and I have been modelling for some years now. I started with modelling when I was a kid.
Like most kids I did not paint my models and frequently crashed them during mock dog-fights.
At the age of 15/16 (I am not really sure) I started painting my models. You can see the results in the gallery with finished models.

Yes, my embarrassing first models are on this site as well (not that I am producing prize winning models nowadays). I think it is important to show these so novice builders can get a better understanding of the hobby. The internet is full with super models, but most of the people building these are in the hobby for quite some years. I think it is interesting to show the "evolution" of the end results. You will probably see that my modelling skills have gradually improved. To achieve better results I have read a lot of books and magazines, joined the IPMS and experimented a lot with different techniques.

The first book about modelling that I bought was "how to go plastic modelling" by Chris Ellis. This book is older then I am, the book is from 1973, I am from 1979! Still, this book radically changed my perception of modelling. I found that kits were not perfect from the box, you could convert kits and, most importantly, you should remove seems before painting a kit! I will try to arrange the gallery (semi) chronologically so you can see the evolution I was writing about earlier.

I mostly build aircraft, in different scales, although 1/72 is the dominating scale. Most of the aircraft are military, but I will build any aircraft that I think is interesting. As you will find, this often means WW II. I also like to paint warhammer type figures every now and then. And on the occasional blue moon I build something completely different (so far an armoured vehicle and a scorpion)

I hope you enjoy the site and I like to remind you that I am not a native English speaker/writer. It is therefore quite possible that you find spelling or grammar errors. If you do, do not hesitate to report them to me via the email. If, for any other reason, you would like to contact me, feel free to email me.
