    250th Raptor sortie

EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. AFPN (Feb. 18, 1999) -- Raptor 4001 flew the F-22 test program's 250th flight test sortie here Feb. 15. Later this year, the F-22 Combined Test Force will begin testing the next-generation fighter's advanced avionic technology with Raptor 4004, a major milestone for the program. One of the revolutionary aspects of the F-22, which is meant to replace the aging F-15 Eagle, is an ability to gather data from many sources and then display it in the most useful format for pilots to make combat critical decisions in high-threat situations.(Article Courtesy USAF Press Release)
