    F-22 Raptor awaits new paint

MARIETTA, Ga. AFPN (Jan. 14, 1999) -- F-22 Raptor 4003 waits for state-of-the-art robots to apply coatings of stealth paint at Lockheed Martin Aeronautical Systems here. Using robots instead of people to paint the F-22 allows the Raptor team to achieve the program's stealth and affordability goals by applying consistent long-life low-observable coatings in the most cost-efficient manner. These coatings will help ensure the F-22 can operate at forward bases for an extended period of time while maintaining its radar-evading stealthiness." (Article Courtesy USAF Press Release)
