I've decided to write a tutorial on how to make a blooming rose square. You will need more than a beginner knowledge of crochet to do
them although they really aren't all that difficult once you get started. I hope the directions coupled with step by step pictures will
not be too confusing since this is my first attempt at anything like this. Here's a picture of the finished square:
Just for reference, the materials I used were Red Heart Super Saver® in Gold, Hunter Green and Claret, an aluminum crochet hook
size H. The finished square is about 7½" square. Any worsted weight yarn should give you the same results, use any size hook to
obtain the same size.
NOTE: You do not join rnds, you work in a spiral, one rnd leading into the next.
Thanks, Pickles.
Ch 5, join with a sl st to first ch to form a ring.
Ch 1, sc in ring.
Ch 5, sc in ring, rep until you have 7 lps, ch 5-this is your 8th lp.
In each ch-5 lp around make sc, hdc, dc, hdc, and sc. You should have 8 petals.
